How affiliate links work

Some outbound links on this site, particularly links to books and products we mention, are affiliate links. If you click one and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission. You pay nothing extra.

Financial product referrals

Some links to financial products and services, such as bank accounts, are referral links. If you open an account through one, we may receive a referral payment, and you may receive a sign-up bonus from the provider. Bonus amounts, rates, and eligibility rules are set by the provider, change without notice, and often require you to be 18 or older. The provider's own site is the source of truth for current terms; confirm them there before opening any account.

A referral never makes a product right for you. We link only to products we would mention anyway, we are not compensated for favorable coverage, and nothing on this site is personalized financial advice. Compare alternatives and read the account agreement before you sign up.

It does not change our recommendations

Affiliate relationships never change what we recommend or what we say about something. Every book and resource we link to is there because we think it is genuinely useful. We would mention them even without a commission.

How we mark them

Following FTC guidance, we disclose affiliate relationships clearly. You will also see a short note near affiliate links on the pages where they appear, so you always know before you click.
